On Feb 22 we celebrated Kerry’s birthday with a group of old friends and a series of old wines – the occasion being a wonderful excuse to dig into the cellar. In this era, when everyone is so eager to drink up wines immediately upon release, enjoying wines of a certain age is a reminder of the disservice we render to those who craft ageworthy wines.
Attached you will find the menu (accompanied by my brief stab at poetry in honor of my partner) and the wines that were served. The dinner was held at Jean-Georges restaurant in New York and served under the watchful eye of our long-time friend, Philippe Vongerichten, brother of Jean-Georges.
Each of the wines sang their part of the show in perfect tune and harmony. This is the reward of patience rendered in respect of well-sited vineyards owned and managed by brilliant vignerons.
