Côte de Nuits

The spiritual home of Pinot Noir

The northern sector of the Côte d’Or, the Côte de Nuits constitutes a single east-facing slope whose subtle variations in soil composition, exposition, wind exposure, and sun-hours yield wines of seemingly infinite variety which nonetheless all share a strong family resemblance. In this sense, it is perhaps the most well-cataloged and well-articulated set of terroirs in the world, and it certainly produces the most sought-after and revered examples of Pinot Noir that exist. From north to south, its primary wine-producing villages are: Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée, and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
