Alsace

A terroir enthusiast’s dream

Situated on the German border on France’s eastern edge, Alsace plays home to a series of distinctive crus with widely variable soil types (granite, limestone, schist, loess, and more)—sometimes even varying within an individual cru—expressed through monovarietal wines produced from four major grape varieties (Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Muscat) and a bevy of supporting characters (Pinot Blanc, Pinot Auxerrois, Pinot Noir, and more). Alsace’s seemingly endless combination of soil and grape variety make for a treasure trove of wines which run the gamut from bone-dry to lusciously sweet.
