2018 Rovellotti Vespolina Ronco al Maso
The 2018 Vespolina Ronco al Maso is bright and exuberant in its first impression, just as nervy tannins make an appearance to remind us of where we are. Succulent dark cherry, plum, spice and savory herbs all race out of the glass. This is an especially fruity, forward style, and yet there is plenty of bright acid to balance things out. It all works.

2018 Rovellotti Vitigno Innominabile Il Criccone
The 2018 Vitigno Innominabile Il Criccone (Erbaluce) is gorgeous. Apricot, chamomile, almond and passionfruit overtones give the 2018 pretty shades of aromatic nuance. On the palate, the wine is decidedly phenolic in feel, with the structure and acidity to accompany a wide range of foods.

2017 Rovellotti Nebbiolo Valplazza
Rovellotti’s 2017 Nebbiolo Valplazza is a wine of real character. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2017 is framed by grippy tannins that give shape and persistence. Rose petal, sweet berry, mint, orange zest, white pepper and wild flowers all grace this super-expressive Nebbiolo. I would cellar it for another year or two. Alternatively, a good bit of aeration will do wonders. This is quintessential Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo.
