Diaphanous yellow-gold. Mineral- and spice-accented orchard, pit fruits and a hint of violet on the deeply perfumed nose. Densely packed yet lively as well, offering palate-staining nectarine, pear liqueur and Meyer lemon flavors that show outstanding clarity and solid back-end thrust. The floral and mineral notes build emphatically on the strikingly long, seamless finish, which shows outstanding definition and a late, sweetening touch of honey.

Rich, for sure, but energetic as well, finishing with firm, minerally cut on a strikingly persistent finish that features polished tannins and sexy floral and exotic spice flourishes.

Impressively concentrated and broad but energetic as well, finishing with sharp clarity, mounting tannins and emphatic, dark-fruit-driven persistence. These vines were originally planted in 1923 and 1936, with massal replacements taking place starting in the late 1980s.

More graceful than its burly Laya sibling, with strong finishing cut, repeating red fruit character and subtle tannins that frame a long, silky finish.

Finishes smoky, sweet and very long, with lingering florality and gentle, well-judged tannins that add subtle grip. There’s a level of finesse here that reminds me more than a little of Côte-Rôtie.
