2017 Yves Cuilleron Ripa Sinistra
Dark purple. Ripe blackberry, licorice pastille, smoked meat and potpourri scents are complemented by a powerful mineral overtone. Youthfully chewy and broad in the mouth, offering densely packed, mineral black/blue fruit liqueur, floral pastille flavors and a strong jolt of exotic spices. Finishes with repeating mineral and dark fruits notes, well-knit tannins and strong tenacity.

2017 Yves Cuilleron Cornas Lieu-Dit Les Côtes
Saturated ruby. Expressive aromas of blackberry, cherry liqueur and olive paste are complemented by a suave floral element. Sweet, seamless and deeply flavored, with a smoky mineral quality sharpening palate-coating black/blue fruit liqueur and floral pastille flavors. The juicy, sharply delineated and very persistent finish features slow-building tannins, smoky mineral cut and echoing florality.

Opaque ruby. Smoke-accented dark berries, cherry and candied flowers on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering appealingly sweet blackberry and boysenberry flavors that are underscored by a vein of zesty mineral quality. Dusty tannins build steadily on a long, floral-driven finish that leaves a hint of candied violet behind.

Brilliant purple. Expansive, mineral-driven dark berry liqueur and violet scents are complicated by licorice, smoky bacon and potpourri accents. Energetic and chewy on the palate, offering alluringly sweet, densely packed blackberry, cassis, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that turn spicier with air. Broad, sappy and intensely floral on the extremely persistent, spicy finish, which is shaped by broad, building tannins. (this wine was formerly bottled under the Terres Sombres name)

Glass-staining ruby. Displays pungent, spice-accented aromas of ripe dark berries, candied violet, musky herbs and minerals that pick up a smoky nuance with air. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering pliant black/blue fruit, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that show excellent clarity and back-end thrust. Becomes deeper with air, with no loss of energy, and finishes mineral and very long, with smooth tannins and repeating floral and herb notes.

Deep, brilliant magenta. High-pitched, minerally dark berry and floral scents are complicated by suggestions of black pepper and allspice. Offers intense, spice-laced blackberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors that deepen and pick up a sweet hint of salty olive with air. The lively, emphatically fruity finish displays impressive clarity and supple, even tannins that add shape and gentle grip.

Closes very long, sappy and broad, showing very good clarity and bite on the smoky, youthfully tannic finish.

Bright purple. Mineral-inflected dark fruit and floral scents are energized by an accent of peppery spices. Densely packed yet lively as well, finishing with very good clarity, mineral thrust and chewy tannins.

Smoothly plays richness off of energy and finishes impressively long and spicy, with a suave floral note lingering.
